- According to the analysis of the Museum of the Person experience, a virtual museum that preserves its collections on a digital base, it is possible to think the virtual as a part of the social, and to perceive the relationships between people, memories and identities on the web as re-significations referring to the relations that take place in other social spheres. In the cyberspace, new uses of the sites of memory are established, and identities and meanings are crystallized so that ‘imagined communities’ are born. In the Museum of the Person, a collective memory is built from a collection of individual memories. This museum does not display persons themselves, but the representations that they make of them. The central concern is not with the ‘truth’ of the events, but with the authenticity of the narrative itself and of its effects.
