  • The library of the Tiroler Landesmuseum Ferdinandeum is linked to the Innsbruck University Library by almost 200 years of friendship and collaboration. Beginning with the exchange of documents, which was started and expanded by both institutions during the 19th century, the similarities of the libraries with regard to documentation and acquisition are visible in today’s collections. In the 1950s, the Ferdinandeum granted asylum to approximately 100,000 books that were temporarily moved during the renovation of the University Library. Later, the Ferdinandeum organised the exhibition to mark the 250th anniversary of the University Library’s foundation. Over the last few years, the two institutions have realised many joint digitalisation projects, amongst others the digitalisation of historical Tyrolean newspapers.
