- The Vienna Medical University Library has been Austria’s first and till now only academic library which got certificated according to ISO 9001:2008. The article presents necessary frame conditions for implementing a quality management system in Austria’s most important medical library as well as the requirements to the norm. Constitutive to the experiences of this since 2012 operating certification process an evaluation from the perspectives of an academic library about effort and benefit of such an instrument will occur.
