- For a long time NS-related provenance research in Austrian Libraries was nothing that could be taken for granted. Its emergence is related to the country's history and the libraries' histories, to historical and legal developments, to advances in research and fundamental changes in attitude towards the issue. Since 2002 systematic NS-related provenance research has been carried out in Austrian libraries; since 2004 in an increasing number of university libraries. There have been considerable differences in terms of available resources, staff, organisation and aims. Important current developments concern the long-term perspectives of projects and involve such activities as making projects permanent, enhancing their visibility, placing them in an international context and establishing cooperation.
