- Public libraries through moments of uncertainty in their mission and social usefulness is questioned. Given the voices that paint a pessimistic and gloomy horizon for these institutions, the library professional has an obligation and responsibility to justify their role in society, claiming its importance, demonstrate its usefulness and social returns, and have a proactive attitude to its users community and beyond considered necessary, it can be said that today, more than ever, are essential as agents of development and improvement of the social fabric of their community. To do this, libraries must take some risks, show enthusiasm, relying on imagination and be what users want them to be.
