- The paper refers to quantitative approach of collecting data on acquisition and use of electronic resources in academic libraries. The issue has been presented both from the viewpoint of international standards and recommendations as well as of practical activities. Key issues like standardized counting of electronic journals, databases, e-books, digitized collections and their use have been discussed based on national statistics (CSO), “Perspektywy” ranking and of the “Analysis of the functioning of research libraries in Poland”. The paper also presents the activities of Team of Statistics of Electronic Resources (StatEL), established at the request of the Executive Council of the KDBASP and Standards Committee for Research Libraries.
