- Facebook is the the most used social networking worldwide and also in Peru in where has thousands of followers, for this reason the universities in general and the academic libraries particularly have created their Facebook pages or profiles to improve the communication with their users and also to market their services. This work explores the current situation about its usage among Peruvian academic libraries, in order to know if follows the trends about the usage of Facebook in academic libraries abroad and to determine its usage's evolution to suggest using good practices. As methodology, a descriptive and content analysis was conducted on Facebook pages and profiles belonging to Peruvian academic libraries and also a document review. The libraries concerned are part of the institutions of higher education institutionalized by the Asamblea Nacional de Rectores (ANR) and these were analized during the month May 2014.
