- The publication of BOAI (Budapest Open Access Iniative), in 2002, outlined a strategic model for the free access to scientific information, enhancing the goal of Open Access, through two complementary pathways of movement: the golden road, with the publication in journals free access and greenway, through self-archiving in repositories. The green approach has the main purpose of ensuring that the work produced by the authors, in the preprint and / or postprint form, is widely distributed, and hence mentioned. In this process, the authors, by adhering to a system that gives them greater visibility, because of his work can be read by the scientific community and the general public, boost the citation impact.
