- For researchers it is crucial to have access to scientific information. However, there are barriers to access this information that must be overcome. This is not a problem that affects only developing countries. The United Kingdom, United States, Canada and Australia are, among others, the most active in setting up institutional or thematic repositories as a complementary way to have access and disseminate the scientific information, which is essential to potentiate its impact. This study pretends to show the approach and methodology used on the case study for the implementation of an institutional repository at the University of Coimbra.
