- In order to help build meaning for the term ‘archival document’, a panorama presents itself here on essentialist and theoretical-relational assumptions regarding this concept, dwelling on constructs influenced by reminiscences of the 19th century “positive spirit”. With that intent, the theoretical-conceptual course taken adopts, as parameters, the notions of “objective knowledge” from Philosophy; “documental form” from Diplomatics; “testimonial” from Historiography; “proof” from Law; and “origin and organicity” from Archivistics. This led to the relational character of the objective notion of archival document from its juridical, historical and business nature.
