  • As a possible response to those experienced by the Archives , in the eighties of the twentieth century changes , harmonization , which was derived from the approach favored by the development of technology, between disciplines have in common is proposed process newsreel : the Library , Archival and Documentation. The essential postulate of harmonization was teaching in multidisciplinary programs Archives , the Archives now would not be directly linked to the Administration or the history , but the Documentation or Information Science . In the course of history , the Archives has gone through various vicissitudes : during the nineteenth century, it was an auxiliary science of history ; mid-twentieth century became the assistant of the Administration; later claimed his status as an autonomous science ; and finally now , it is associated with the Information Science or Documentation . Also the rapid development of information technology and communication , the emergence of electronic documents and finally called postmodern philosophical thought have threatened the fundamental principles of archival . Moreover, they have come to question their theoretical principles, those who give sustenance to be called science. In this situation, it is necessary to reflect on the challenges and epistemological questions facing the Archives as a science ; budgets and consequences of harmonization; changes in its theoretical structure that are necessary to make the new phenomena , processes and contexts that are presented today.
