- The main goal of the present research is to outline the theoretical and practical components that should be present in the construction of a conceptualization of the Librarian Social Responsability (LSR), in order to generally join it up to the area of libraries management. The pattern followed in this process has been taken from the statements given by the companies that works with the development of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The study group is formed by the two public libraries that are nowadays functioning in Provincia Cordillera- Región Metropolitana. It is concluded that the LSR concept is not recognized as a determined element inside the duties of these units; and, there is not only a lack of awareness about the topic in both polled institutions, but besides, clear evidences of development inside the oficial levels and organizations that belong to the national library community are not found. For this purpose a sort of mixed survey (open-ended and close ended questions) was applied that allowed us to recognize the uses through which in an implicit way the LSR concept is being used in the management of the public libraries in study.
