- Digital repositories are one of the strategies defined by the open access movement openly disseminate academic and scientific production generated by an institution or a scientific community in particular. In order to gain presence and visibility and, thus, to maximize access to the World Wide Web to the contents arranged in open intellectual creation that must be distributed and disseminated through service providers. Content aggregators and harvesters OAI-PMH (Open Archives Initiative-Protocol Metadata Harvesting) are valuable tools to carry out that task, but certainly are web search engines who play a role in this regard.
