- This paper develops the close relationship between Librarianship and Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). HCI is a discipline that integrates elements of Social Sciences, Design and Computer Science. Its main objective is to streamline the interactions between humans and computers to reduce errors and frustrations, thus increasing satisfaction and productivity. Librarians are responsible for the information management. Since most information is processed and shared electronically, HCI becomes a critical discipline to enable that those digital processing results as efficient as possible. The technological contexts in Latin America demand librarians qualified in HCI.
