- One of the strategic investments of the European Union is to make cultural heritage accessible by keeping and spreading it at the same time as boosting economic activity from the point of view of the defense of the public asset. Europeana, the project that defends the conservation and quality of the European collective memory, faces the challenge by looking for the balance among the quality of the transmission of information, the generation of income and the reduction of the barriers to usage in order to bring new users. This paper focuses on the role that the public library can have in the spreading of a new concept of cultural heritage and memory that helps to make Europeana more visible and provide it with more contents.
