  • Objetive. Identify key characteristics of open access journals of Peru. Methodology. We analyzed data from 69 publications Peruvian databases and DOAJ LATINDEX under variables: ID, location, publisher, frequency, timing, thematic indexing, platform interoperability. Results. The magazines are edited mainly analyzed in universities located in Lima, are regularly published quarterly or semiannually. Correspond to the field of medical sciences, being accessible from portals and have an average level of interoperability. Conclusions. Initial characterization of the magazines is positive. These publications meet the referential elements of legitimacy, which justifies its inclusion in regional and international levels. It suggests the development of rating systems to their local indexing and broader knowledge.
