Library and information science as a field.</subject><description>We propose a study for implementing a service Selective Dissemination of Information (SDI) in the Library of the Faculty of Letters and Science University faculty linked to the departments of Public Administration; Anthropology, Politics and Philosophy; Educational Sciences; Didactic; Economics; Modern Languages; Linguistics; Literature; Educational Psychology; and Sociology. There were problems regarding the disclosure of new information resources incorporated into the acquis, as pro-active action. It is understood that, given the need for the library to be assumed as proactive, there is, in this case, failure in this type of activity and wear a researcher in search of not very clear choices, and that means, can be delivered to him in accordance with an identified profile. Given the need for the Library to anticipate the information needs of their faculty-researchers propose the service DSI drawn from the theme listing registered on Curriculum Lattes researcher. In this context, the general objective of this research is to propose the implementation of a service DSI, configured as a channel of communication with the Library faculty and researchers from the College of Letters and Science, UNESP, from the thematic profiles recorded in Lattes . In order to achieve this goal settled the following specific objectives: to support research in theoretical and practical principles of the ISD; identify the teachers FCLAr / UNESP and Departments to which they are linked; identify the thematic area of &#x200B;&#x200B;expertise of teachers registered in the curricula of the Lattes Platform; identify thematic categories of membership from the representation of the subject identified in the document library resources; undertake diagnostic relationship between thematic profiles of teachers and thematic profiles of representation of the documents subject of the acquis; define procedures for implementing the ISD service. Regarding the methodological procedures, this research presents a qualitative approach and uses the documentary and bibliographic research. Based on the performance of the search engine recorded in Lattes, profile could identify their thematic interests. As partial results we identified 308 thematic profiles of 162 teachers and 6,365 thematic profiles of the documents of the collection, defined from the data of the Dewey Decimal System present in 118 854 bibliographic records. Determined the relevance of the DSI Library service because it was possible to prove that this service can be configured from the connection of the two profiles studied. From this result we intend to configure the service as a channel of communication between library, teachers and researchers with the purpose of informing the new acquisitions.
