- Universities today are in a continuous process of change caused by the information society and by the knowledge society. In both cases, the cross-cutting priority is The Information and Communication Technology (TIC), introduced to broaden access to information and knowledge through its most distinguished digital tool, Internet. In universities the information and knowledge come from scientific-academic papers. In order to promote access to these productions, many institutions are choosing to rely on the Open Access movement (AA) thus following the greenway related to the creation of information repositories. This study focuses on information repositories from National Universities of Argentina that use AA guidelines as academic communication resource for productions. According to these considerations, the methodology for carrying out the study consists of the following steps: description of international trends as regards AA movement, description of the current scenario of repositories related to universities in Argentina, identification of information repositories in National Universities of Argentina from the latest edition available of the following sources: Directory of Open Access Repositories (OpenDOAR), Registry of Open Access Repositories (ROAR), Ranking web of World Repositories (RWRM). This research aims to help build the state of the art of the AA movement in Argentina. It also aims at reflecting on how TIC favored access to open and free information known as AA movement.
