- This paper aims to show the evolution of digital libraries (BD) and Institutional Repositories (RI) as a way to democratize knowledge by teachers, researchers and students to contribute to social and human development. BD and RI are digital information repositories of different types to access them, disseminate and preserve them, and they are helping to strengthen the academic training, in particular, in the universities. Thus, this paper also shows the relationship of these deposits to higher education information
