- Public libraries are placed among important institutions which play role on both education and enlightenment of society. As it is case at almost all institutions, public libraries also produce services according to their sources. Public libraries in Turkey differ among each other according to oppurtunities they have with respect to features of place of their location. Inequalities related to opurtunities are at higher level in Eastern parts of Turkey. The aim of this study is to reveal these inequalities by using statistical data. Related to this goal in this paper, there is comparative analysis of public libraries’ data gathered from thirteen public libraries from different parts of Turkey. These comparisons are made between the city of Van and other cities. Among these comparisons the one between the city of Van and the city of Aydın of which population density is similar to the city of Van have great importance. The results of statistical tests revealed that the mean of public libraries in Van is under the mean of total thirteen cities public libraries.
