- Based on the concepts of ethics and deontology a discussion is presented about the ethical dimension of the LIS profession and the ethical dimension of organizations. The difference between principles, values and responsibilities as components of ethical codes are discussed, and the ultimate representation of the ethical dimensions are analyzed. Importance is given to professional associations as responsible for the development, dissemination and practice of the ethical codes of the profession, and the corporate culture, as part of the corporate identity of the organization that bases its ideology and defines and transmits the values.
