- With the advent of the Internet, there was a need for libraries to mark their Web presence and expand the provision of their services in the virtual environment, enabling the online research catalog and the availability of content through digital libraries. Currently, content management systems (CMS) facilitate the administration of the entire process of content management, from creation to publication. Gradually, libraries have also been using these tools as a means of providing information services, the activities or the dissemination of new bibliographic to the users. However, with the emergence of the social component of the Web, commonly referred to as Web 2.0, libraries are faced with new behaviors of users. This work demonstrates the contribution of content management systems in information management in academic libraries, in order to satisfy the information needs of users. As a case study presents the application of Drupal as a tool for management of information resources portal of the Serviços de Biblioteca e Documentação da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Coimbra, allowed to expand services to the academic community.
