- In 1987 the main library of the Vienna University of Technology moved to a new building. Large parts of its holdings - formerly stored in closed stacks only - are now presented on open shelves. The shelf classification was adopted from the Munich University of Technology Library. The selection of the new classification system, the reclassification objectives, the adaptation of the Munich scheme as well as the steps in the classification process are described.
