- In the winter term of 1979/80 a user survey was conducted by the Vienna University of Technology Library. Target groups of the study were: (a) the academic staff and (b) the students of the University. The main topics were: information behaviour and user behaviour, attitudes to the Library, attitudes towards various aspects of the planning of the upcoming construction of the new main library of the Vienna University of Technology. The project was implemented as a postal mail survey (academic staff: full survey [census], students: random sample). With (a) 55% and (b) 50%, successful response rates have been achieved. A total net of (a) 691 and (b) 1319 questionnaires are going to be processed.
