- This paper is going to analyze the general organisation of the Academic Libraries in Italy, investigating how they are represented in the University Statutes. The aim is to evaluate the level of influence that the guidelines and recommendation for the constitution of a well coordinated structure - issued by a National body - achieved to obtain. The interest is connected to the fact that the Universities are going to change their Statute and it will be advisable they can be influenced by the CRUI (Conference of Italian University Rectors) recommendations. An interesting prospective is the comparison of the results of this analysis with the National measurement of Academic Libraries conducted by GIM (Group for Monitoring the University Libraries). Finally the paper presents a benchmarking of the architecture and organisation of the 84 Universities that have been considered.
