- Music libraries are not a tradition in Portugal. Only recently, some 10 years ago, early work depicting the technical treatment and practice of organizing music libraries began to emerge. This article aims to present the experience of a polytechnic library (the library of ESMAE) with a rich collection of music documents, including CDs and vinyl discs and printed scores, and to explore the internationally available tools for the treatment of music collections, as well as the recent Portuguese bibliography on this subject.
