- The title is the smallest but at the same time the most important piece of text. If it is functional and corresponds to the content it represents, it certainly attracts readers’ attention. Conference papers, along with articles, are two basic forms of presenting research results. As titles of conference papers are sometimes quite complex linguistic structures, it seems it is possible to make a qualitative-quantitative analysis in this area. This paper describes the results of the title analysis of papers presented at various LIS conferences in 2012. The study analyzes the titles in terms of the keyword occurrence and groups the titles into thematic categories. The results of the study were used to identify the most important current interests of Polish LIS researchers.
