  • The Open Journal Systems/OJS or SEER/Sistema Eletrônico de Editoração de Revistas - a free, web based, journal management and publishing system - is in production for 64 journals in Brazil, as of this date. The majority of journals possess a ISSN Registration Number, make use of blind peer-review process and elaborate and specific submission guidelines for authors. During the first 11 months of distribution among the brazilian academic community, 23 on-site training sessions where performed with 467 attendees of both public and private institutions, aimed to promote the use of SEER/OJS in Brazil. Ibict's website also provides information on the logistic requirements for the training, as well as informational material necessary to the training. Ibict encourages the distribution and national adoption of SEER/OJS, in order to assist scientific editors in their main goal of managing their periodicals. With this tool, editors can now manage and publish all of the standard editorial process, from submission and review, to publishing and archival of their digital content. SEER/OJS establishes a practical and economic solution to the needs of brazilian scientific editors.
