  • The aim of this paper is twofold, claiming the figure of the school librarian with professional profile as a faculty member in good standing of the schools, a figure which would give meaning to the concept of school library as IFLA, UNESCO for their integration, management and visibility as a resource center for learning, and show, based on international assessment studies and some proposed national school library is an indispensable resource for information literacy and media. We describe the recent situation of school libraries in Spain and Andalusia from the perspective of studies in recent years. Introducing the scope of public policy for the creation, provision and operation of school libraries in Andalusia in the description of changes in the teaching-learning processes involving the literacy’s and Technologies of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), which would imply greater use of the school library as a resource center for learning.
