  • In a previous issue we introduced the controversial new index h, proposed by Jorge Hirsch, in turn praised, criticized and studied by leading authors in the field of bibliometrics. Recall that the underlying idea is as ingenious as simple. Is simply to arrange the works of an author of a decreasing under the citations received by each job. At the time when the rank (position in the list) exceeds or equals the value of the appointment, there we have our index h. This means that the author has h papers with at least h citations.
