- The importance of libraries in pre-school and early child education as a support for early learning stimulation programs is reviewed and placed into context with the role of libraries as a focal point for the integration of school teaching activities with the children’s social and familiar environment. An overview will be presented of a range of different activities the teacher-librarian should contribute to the teaching-learning for the development of motor, cognitive, social and emotional skills and awareness. It is concluded that the convergence of the purposes and aims of both the school library and school teaching programs will enable the child to acquire fundamental learning skills that will improve their abilities to search and evaluate knowledge and information throughout their lives.
