- "Digital preservation in institutional repositories: Gredos" is the title of a masters dissertation of the Master in Digital Information Systems, University of Salamanca, academic year 2009-2010. In the past seven years, two related events such as the Open Access movement and the creation of institutional repositories have caused that the preservation issue become one of the most studied in the field of digital documentation. This study focuses on digital preservation of open access institutional repositories, aimed at ensuring the accessibility and long-term use of digital objects deposited. The thesis intended also to reflect the current state of the digital preservation and to provide a practical application for Gredos (= Repository Management System Documentation at the University of Salamanca). The ultimate goal was, therefore, to establish the modus operandi in the development and implementation of a digital preservation plan for Gredos.
