- To accomplish their mission to disseminate and give broad access to research publications in the last ten years libraries have taken up their responsibility in the diffusion of Open Access principles, by supporting the management of the institutional repositories, the OA e-publishing initiatives, by fostering the preservation in repositories and by joining the OA e-journals projects. More recently libraries have also begun to play a role in the research assessment by supporting the interaction between CRIS and IRs.
