- The present research was based on data collected from articles published by the Revista Geologica de Chile betwen 1974 and 1997, covering a period of 24 years. Strait count was adopted and therefore only senior authors were credited with full contribution to the production of an article. In this period, 178 authors were identified as publishing a total of 320 articles in this journal; 72% of them produced only one paper. The Least Square Method and the Kolmogorov- Smirnov test were used to verify the observed and expected values. At the 0.01 level of significance the critical value was found to be 0.1222 and the Dmax was 0.1063. Therefore, this literature did conform to the Lotka’s law.
