- The National Library of Health Sciences (BNCS), is working in the Spanish Bibliographical Health Indexed (IBECS) from June of 1999. The initial idea was to create a database that gathered the Literature published in Spain in the scope of Sciences Health, including fields such as Medicine, Pharmacy, Veterinary, Psychology, Odontology and Nursering with the main aim that in a future not so far away, considering that uses the same type of methodology and content description tool (DeCS thesaurus), IbecS could merge with LILACS, its homonym database for the Latin American Literature of Health Sciences, providing users the chance of consulting simultaneously the two databases. This project, finally is a reality, through the federated search that allows the Brazilian BVS. But this has not been the unique success of IBECS. This poster will illustrate in a graphic way the evolution of the database, the titles that have been added, the necessary requirements to take into consideration the inclusion of a magazine once agreed with the Technical Committee, and the perspectives of future of this tool of the Virtual Library in Health of Spain.
