- Introduction Learning of information retrieval techniques and searching databases is a constant challenge for a Health librarian in his/her roll as a user trainer. The continuous changes of specialized databases interfaces and the management of themselves imply a continuing librarian challenge for new training techniques in order to get a better trained users. Methodology Literature review on current and innovative teaching resources that are being used in the Health Sciences special libraries users training. Results • Implementation of some of the identified techniques in the training activities planned. • Inclusion in the library Balanced Scorecard (BSC), in the perspective of Internal Processes, a qualitative variable perception of training, going beyond merely existing quantitative (number of training sessions per quarter). Conclusions • When innovative training techniques are involved in sessions, it is improved the contents learning, the knowledge level of the group, trainees’ participation and each other interaction in the hospital environment. • The use of innovative methods acts as a library advertisement, letting break its traditional image and promoting the training sessions demand.
