- The use of bibliometric indicators, such as citation indexes and impact factor, have become essential tools for the assessment of research activities as well as for measuring the economic and social activity of a country. This article analyses indicators for the evaluation of the quality in research activities and deepens into the use of databases as a tool for bibliometric studies.
