  • In the last 20 years, the new technologies had modified a lot of the practices of the cataloguing and classifying. When the Internet had appeared, it had determined a series of deep changes that had affected not only the technical processes of cataloguing but even its conception. When the amounts of documents grow, new formats appear. If we had considered that cataloguing is to describe the essentials parts of a document, with the purpose of can identify its contents to get back, among a documental collection... a catalogue is simply a complete list, arranged and classified of a set of documents. The traditional cataloguing, from the middle of the XIXth century had established two basic criteria to create the catalogue that are valid to the present: the uniform bibliographic description and the establishment the different access point. The automatized cataloguing by the use of computers does not modify that conception. By the way, the entry formats had respected the cataloguing rules. The application of the Anglo American Cataloguing Rules is the same, both for the print cards and for the online catalogue, only differs in the format of visualization.
