- The librarian has expanded his areas of expertise beyond traditional activities connected with the library. Through actions in a project that uses environmental education as a facilitator in the management of chemical residues, we sought to investigate how the librarian acted in this context. Faced with the environmental reality in which we live is needed the cooperation of all to guarantee a healthy environment for this and future generations. Thus, having a program for managing chemical residues that are used in environmental education is essential given the variety of waste generated by it in developing its activities. For that printed educational materials were developed for distribution on campus of UFSCar. It is understood that librarians can not only act in this context as it has the powers to act on environmental education projects. Its role must extend beyond the role as intermediary of information process and assume the role of interacting with the producer of information and those who use it.
