- The librarian has expanded its areas of expertise beyond the traditional activities relating to the library. From the performance in the USA project that environmental education as a facilitator in the management of chemical waste, it was investigated as was the work of the librarian in this context. Given the environmental reality in which we live we need the cooperation of all professionals to ensuring a healthy environment for this and future generations. Thus, UFSCar to have a program for management of chemical waste that is used for environmental education, it is important to face the variety of waste generated by it, the development of its activities. From a case study it was possible to understand information needs and develop educational materials printed for distribution in the fields of UFSCar. This study has concluded that the librarian not only can here as has the powers to act in projects for environmental education. His role should expand beyond the role as an intermediary to process information for the space you take it as interactor, both with the producer of information on who uses it.
