- The evolution of reference as a fundamental aspect of the library services is fairly recent. In fact the term does not appear until 1890. The philosophy behind them is that we find in any manifest, opinion or statement that considers the library as a service to the community, i.e., that which, inspired by the democratic ideals of socialization culture, knowledge, ecuanime distribution power all those procedures guidance and support to the user in the use of human and technical resources available to schools. This is, in short, not only enable the dissemination of information, but the learning of the operational modes more effective acquisition of the community members.
