- This paper aims to present new approaches to university libraries and the need for cooperation. Mentioned the different stages of evolution of society and how they affected them in the functions and roles of libraries and librarians. It provides an introduction to the mission of university libraries and common problems that afflict. We propose a way forward through cooperation, integration, rationalization and coordination of efforts. It also mentions the different types of cooperation, benefits, products and services obtained through it. Finally, we present the experience of the Agreement of Academic Libraries of Córdoba (abuse the disconnection protection) as an example of a process of library cooperation in the area of the province of Cordoba.
