  • Open Access movement defend free and universal access to digital resources from scientific and academic production. Causes of this movement are based mainly in legal and economic restrictions from powerful editorial groups. As an alternative to traditional mechanisms in publishing distribution, two fundamental strategies has been outlined: open access journals and institutional and thematic respositories. Between most important open access benefits it can be mentioned increase in visibility, use and impact of papers, acceleration in research process, and reduction of information access gap between nations.
