- It is described the process of setting up the Novum Regestrum, Union Catalogue of printed materials, from XVI to XIX centuries preserved in Iberoamerican, Spain and Portugal libraries. It describes the background, the definition phase of this union catalog in the frame of ABINIA (Association of National Libraries of Ibero-America) and its methodology. It details the procedures for merging bibliographic records from different libraries and the treatments used to standardize the character sets, local fields and non MARC fields, and the elimination of duplicate records. Finally, reports the edition of the database on a cd-rom and projected its continuation and relationship with other union catalogues for printed materials.
