- The citation indexes are the main sources of international prestige for the scientific journals. The presence in these databases of journals published in Spain, Portugal and Latin America has been very poor, but has improved markedly in recent years with the emergence of Scopus and the expansion of journal master list in ISI Thomson Reuters. This paper analyzes the current situation, editorial features, the distribution by countries and disciplines of Iberian and Latin American publications included in these indexes.
