  • The author illustrates the peculiarities of the “author libraries”, expression established in recent time to define the library collections produced by cultural personalities in the course of their lives. These are complex collections that contain documents of different nature and in some cases may be considered proper archival storage systems Author libraries of the twentieth century deserves further consideration because often consist of large quantities of documents or because the documents are most often on different media, moreover the author also dwells on the concept of rare book applied to the twentieth century in relation to the possible presence of traces of reading or dedications as an example of the complexity of these libraries representative of a literary society and from which emerge people and their professional relationships and friendship.
