- The analysis of the technological strategies is considered important to characterize the position of the company opposite to the competition in a certain sector. These processes of analysis need of the utilization of analytical methods that facilitate to compile and to transform big volumes of information into a useful product for the capture of decisions to strategic level. A tool that can facilitate these analyses is the Patentometric or Bibliometric of patents, which applied to then innovation sector. In this work they are in use to the bibliometrics indicators of patents for studying the behavior and technological skills of the Scientific Pole of the West of Havana from his foundation until 2005. The strategy is it was compared with that of other Scientific regional Poles. For the achievement of these aims there were made 11 databases from the records of MEDLINE, USPTO and EPO/PCT from 1979 until 2005. They came near to interesting results as the primacy of Cuba in certain technological lines, as well as the general strategy followed by this one. There was identified the technology of major impact and the strategies of each one of the organizations belonging to this Pole. There was compared the position of the Cuban Pole with regard to the rest of the studied Poles and other strategies of leadership were identified, in addition, on the biotechnological market, strategic alliances, possible copies of technology or oportunities of business from the citation of patents, etc. There are applied the indicators of activity, relational of the first and second generation. The results appear in graphs and technological maps.
