- Some considerations on the present status of the Web portal content management, as well as the relation and importance in the organization, and its implementation starting from the free software tools, are presented. The competences of the information professional to develop this management work in the era of the information society are approached. It is concluded that the Web content management is one of the most important functions of the information professional. In the Internet and Web portal contexts, the task of these professional is to manage the information so that the adequate users receive it properly and in due time.
