- Standardization is a core task in library science and information management, and it will become more and more relevant in electronically networked environments. Standards in the field of information science are grouped according to their purpose: describing and identifying informative resources, information exchange, collection management and service implementation. The present paper focuses on three standards providing bibliographic control: ISBD, ISBN, and ISSN.
