- We will start by talking about the concept and definition of Digital Library, which in the university environment renders two kinds of content, clearly different from each other: electronic information obtained through subscription or purchase, and self- produced electronic information. Within this second group we come across learning objects and scientific results in digital format, for those the Open Access movement has developed new technological platforms such as the research repositories. On the other hand, the present paper aims at a deep insight into the problems arising from the integration and interconnection of electronic resources considered as one of the big technological challenges for University libraries nowadays.
